Essential oils
Here are some of the essential oils I use, for a full list and INCI Latin names please see the FAQs.
Chamomile:
An antibacterial and an antiseptic. It is most well known for its anti-flammatory and calming properties, internally and externally.
Patchouli:
This scent made popular in the 1960s has a wonderful strong aroma that is sweet, rich and earthy.
Lavender:
This is a wonderful essential oil. It has many uses including being a mood lifter. When applied to the skin it stimulates the immune system which promotes the natural healing process.
Tea Tree:
This natural antiseptic has been used by Aborigines for centuries. It is also used in Australia to clean their hospitals as it is antiviral, anti-bacterial and also has anti-fungal properties. This is an ingredient in SheaRoots Foot Butter and feedback I have received is that it clears up athletes foot incredibly quickly. Tea Tree has so many uses.
Peppermint:
The smell of this oil always lifts my mood. It has many health promoting properties including the positive affect on the the respiratory system which is probably why it has been used by many ancient cultures.
Geranium:
I love the smell of this oil as it has a subtle citrus tinge to it. It has a particularly unisex scent. Geranium has many medicinal properties and also leaves your skin with a radiant glow.
Lemon:
Well known for its antiseptic properties, lemon is not only beneficial to the skin but is an incredible multi-purpose household agent.
